Philippe Rondeau is Research Engineer at University of La Reunion since 2022 and is currently Lab Manager in Detroi unit Inserm U1188 (Reunion Island, France). He gained his engineer diploma in Chemistry field from l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Clermont-Ferrand (ENSCCF), France in 1995. He holds a PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of La Reunion in 2009 and a habilitation for research direction in 2013. He is the author/co-author of 75 peer-reviewed publications in different fields of research (chemistry, spectroscopy, biochemistry, cellular biology and clinical studies). Since 2016, his research has focused on two main areas: 1) The involvement of glycation of red blood cells in the vascular complications of diabetes (haemorrhagic stroke and destabilization of atherosclerotic plaque). 2) Development of the use of therapeutic HDL in these vascular complications.

  • Effects of AGE at endothelial cell level and at vascular level and their relation with the progression and outcome of vascular diseases.
  • Involvement of glycated erythrocytes in haemorrhagic complications of atherosclerosis and in haemorrhagic stroke in the context of diabetes.
  • Development of custom apolipolipoprotein A1 (NPA1 or "reconstituted HDL") nanoparticles for enrichment with molecules of therapeutic interest in inflammatory complications.
